Out of the loop.

A couple of weeks ago I joined a walking and running group. I thought this might be a good way to meet new people as well as to keep myself motivated to work out. I have completely enjoyed the class but find myself without much to say. I realize now just how much my thinking has changed in the last year about consumerism and other issues. The ladies in my group don't have many hobbies other than shopping. Our entire four mile walk is an ongoing discussion of who bought what and where. I just don't spend much time shopping for shoes, baby gifts, and new clothes. I don't fault people who do this but it just isn't what I am into at this stage of my life. Owning a bunch of the newest and latest styles just doesn't interest me that much. I can't imagine how bored I would be if the only thing I had to look forward to in the future was going shopping each weekend.
