Spring cleaning.

We finished up several projects this weekend that were on our list of things "to do". The biggest job was cleaning out our garage. Over the fall and winter the garage had become quite full of various things that we needed to get rid of. Our initial plan was to save everything for a garage sale but that plan faded. It became very important to my husband to once again be able to see his garage flooring and be able to walk through the garage. Over the course of the weekend we put items on the curb with a "free" sign and they disappeared. It was nice to think that our stuff was being taken by people who truly needed it. My theory is that giving in this manner will come full circle. The people who receive these free items now may be more likely to share their own excess stuff in the future. My theory proved true this week when I was gifted 4 dozen canning jars by a stranger who just wanted them to be put to good use. My older son was given a bicycle by a neighbor who's child had outgrown it. I then found a wonderful selection of about 2 dozen like new clothing items at Goodwill for our entire family for a mere $6.34 on sale. Giving our stuff away seemed to net us as much in items our family really needed.
