Green up the children.

Now that our youngest child is finally fully potty trained I feel it is time to really start teaching them green habits. It was pretty hard to do this when my child was still using diapers and wipes. I am just not one of those people who got into using cloth diapers. I wish I had but my husband wouldn't get behind the idea. I think that they are now ready to learn new things that they can carry forward with them in life. For example we started using cloth napkins and towels instead of paper napkins and towels. We use real plates and wash them instead of going through tons and tons of paper plates. They are really getting into the idea of making our own cleaning supplies. Recycling is something we do on a daily basis. Our food scraps go into a compost bin for the worms to use to create wonderful compost for our garden. I believe that by teaching them at an early age these ideas and skills that they will see this as normal and teach their own children in the same way. I now see many of the ideas my parents taught me coming back into play in my own life. There was a period where I rejected these ideas but now see that as something I should have been doing all along.
