What to do?

Well, we bit the bullet and took away my son's pacifier. He turned two in February, and we've been working on this for a little while now. He started biting through the nipple part of the pacifier, and didn't like the way it felt. So we were able to tell him that they were "broken" and we would throw them away. I think he did this with 3 pacifiers, and it wasn't a big deal because there was always a back-up one.

Well, today we threw away the last one. It's so sad. He didn't scream and cry, just whimpered a little. We did it right before nap time; he's been in bed for at least an hour and is still awake. Now I'm afraid that in taking away the pacifier, we've taken away the nap, too. He's very happy; just talking and singing, but I would really like him to take a nap.

Any advice or encouragement from those who have done this before?? Please???
