Not attending...

Yesterday we received an invitation at the last minute to attend a home schooling event at our local fire hall. The event was being sponsored by a local Civil Air Patrol group. The topic to be discussed was weather tracking and amateur radio operation. I know that my son would have loved to learn about these topics but I couldn't bring myself to take him to another outing this week. I would rather read about natural male enhancement pills or get a bikini wax than take my kids out on another dark and rainy night this week. We have received an invitation to either a party or a meeting for each night of this week. I try to let my kids attend as many as possible because once winter weather sets in these opportunities will be few and far between. I feel guilty when we don't take advantage of truly educational opportunities but I have to pace myself. I find that I have less patience for various behaviors my kids may display by the end of any extremely busy week. It doesn't make special events much fun if everyone is overstimulated and stressed. We are saving our energy for Halloween parties that are yet to occur in the coming days.
