Saying Thank You...
Do your children constantly get invited to birthday parties and whatnot? These come pretty frequently in public school where it is the rule that students have to offer each student and invitation to a party if they are to be handed out in class. I might be old fashioned but I have noticed that no one seems to make their children send out thank you cards anymore. I was shocked to receive such a card this summer from a child. It was a lovely note written on one of those personalized note cards and addressed to my older son. In all of the parties my son has attended over the years he has always taken a nice gift to each party. Until this note we had never received a note of thanks for the gifts we have given. When I was a child this was something everyone was required to do. I have to admit it irks me a bit to take time out of my schedule, money out of my bank account, and put thought into a gift when a simple thank you note isn't reciprocated. I really believe children today are so greedy because we aren't teaching them to be thankful or to actually think about the things they are given.
