The boy has a plan.
Our oldest son is desperate to build a robot. This has been a fascination of his since he was a toddler. Last night my mother-in-law gave him some books that detail how to build all type of machines and robots. His nose has been in those books ever since. I have listened to him talk all day about how things will be when he builds "prototype 37c" or whatever he plans to call his robot. I love his enthusiasm and the directions that it flow but worry about his ability to put his plans into action. The projects that he wants to build require a great deal of expensive electronic equipment that we aren't able to run out and buy. I have encouraged him to try to earn the money for the projects but he doesn't quite grasp the gravity of what his expenses might be. It is a hard thing to encourage children but keep them rooted in reality. I wish his plans were a little more modest for now but he dreams big and grand. I am sure that his abilities are limited right now by his budget but we live on a modest budget and try to encourage the same in our children. Hopefully that doesn't make me a bad parent?
