Really, I am ignoring you.

We all have those people in our lives that no matter how hard you try to avoid them it just doesn't happen. I have this one particular neighbor who is just a bit difficult to take. She is probably a very well meaning person but just seems to be in everyone's business. It never fails that when I am working in the yard she happens by on her nightly walk. I have tried pretending to be reading the newspaper, various advertisements for New Jersey car insurance, and digging earnestly in the dirt in order to avoid talking with her. None of my efforts to appear busy work and it never fails that she walks right up and starts telling me stuff that I really don't want to know. I try to keep in mind that she must be lonely and in need of companionship and that I am somehow filling a void but it isn't one that I want to fill.
