Use the napkin.

While I was away this week I found and incredible deal on cloth napkins. For a long time I have wanted to switch our family over to using cloth napkins instead of paper. It has taken me a while to find affordable napkins that I could buy in bulk. Having just a couple napkins servers no purpose. I knew that I would need a basket full in order to be able to routinely use them. For around $8.00 I was able to buy 50 napkins. This is equivalent to about 4 package of the napkins I currently use. When you consider how many napkins we use in a year the savings will be huge. Not to mention the impact for the environment. Several years ago I started using towels and rags instead of paper towels and it was fairly easy transition. My husband had a bit of difficulty with the idea at first but now is just fine with grabbing towels for cleanups and whatnot. The cloth napkins I can see are going to take a bit of adjustment as well. Last night no one wanted to wipe their face on them because they were too nice. I can see that standpoint because I sort of feel the same when I go to a nice restaurant and have to use a cloth napkin. I know in time we will get there and the cloth napkins will be second nature just like my stockpile of kitchen towels.
