Going to seed...

The end of the gardening season is upon us. For the most part it ended up being a fairly successful gardening year despite some setbacks. Our spring was so wet that crops didn't go into the ground until fairly late. Once they were planted we were hit with a lengthy drought and horribly hot weather. By the end of the season it felt good just to be able to harvest anything. I have now reached the point in the season where I have met my goals for putting away food and have started to let my plants go to seed. I am hoping to be able to harvest and save my own seeds this year and not have to buy as many seeds next year. I have never really saved seeds before so it should be interesting to see if it works out at all.
