Hosting dinner.

This will be the second time in our 20 years of marriage that I will be hosting a Christmas dinner for my family. My mother has only given up the task to me on one other occasion. I was very surprised this week when she agreed that given everything going on in her life that having dinner at my house might be a good idea. What cracks me up is the fact that she insists on telling me what I will be cooking and buying the food. I believe this is her way of controlling what we eat and making sure that we eat the same thing we have always eaten for the last 40 plus years. I suggested to her that I might make a different kind of potato dish and you should have seen the look on her face! It will be fun to see how much leeway I end up getting with hosting the dinner at my house...
