Decide what is important.
This weekend we got together with the family of my brother's girlfriend. We have never met them before and it was an interesting experience. One of the people in attendance was a vegetarian. I totally understand why people make the choice to live a vegetarian lifestyle. I would in fact have no problem making this decision myself if I didn't live in a household full of carnivores. What left me taken back was the fact that this woman was a longtime vegetarian and was also severely overweight. I guess I just always pictured vegetarians being slender health conscious people. The woman told me in great detail about how she was always trying some new diet plan and was considering taking ephedra diet pills. I didn't know how to respond to her because the only thing I was thinking was that she needed to lay off the starchy foods. In a period of two hours she consumed enough bread and pasta for 4 people and a bucket of soda. My lingering thought was that she really isn't a vegetarian but is really just on a high carbohydrate and low protein diet.
