Gingerbread house

I have never made a gingerbread house but we are going to try this year. I got a kit from Target that I'm planning on doing with the kids this year, I'm thinking the Sunday before Christmas. I think that is one of the only days we aren't doing something before the holiday! Does anyone make them from scratch or do you all cheat like me?
